Presentation Evening 2017

The season closed with our Presentation Evening. This is when we hand out trophies to our competition winners, but most of all have a splendid time. We were honoured to have Lucia Duckett and Mary Jenkins, President and General Secretary of the Midland Counties Photographic Federation attend to present the awards.

We also handed over a cheque for £1300 to Dr Robert Horton from St Giles Hospice, Lichfield, the clubs chosen charity, the result of our fundraising throughout the year.

Club Outing to Martin Mere

Martin Mere

A horrendous weather forecast didn’t stop nine of us making the trip to Lancashire for our day out at Martin Mere Wetland Centre.

Although there were heavy showers, we managed to be inside the large hides when it rained, and outside when it was dry.

There is always plenty to see at this Wetland Reserve, and a big hit was the Marsh Harrier circling over the water and fields.

At 3.00pm the staff regularly feed the swans to make sure the migrating Whooper Swans are fat enough to make the long journey back to Iceland (the country, not the shop!). Thousands of ducks, geese and swans had a feeding frenzy right in front of the Discovery Hide where thankfully we were protected from a sudden shower of rain.

In summary, a good day out with like-minded friends!

It is with great sadness that I inform you all that we have lost a great friend and fellow member George Lamb who passed away earlier today.

George loved the camera club and we all loved George, and he will be greatly missed.
