A horrendous weather forecast didn’t stop nine of us making the trip to Lancashire for our day out at Martin Mere Wetland Centre.
Although there were heavy showers, we managed to be inside the large hides when it rained, and outside when it was dry.
There is always plenty to see at this Wetland Reserve, and a big hit was the Marsh Harrier circling over the water and fields.
At 3.00pm the staff regularly feed the swans to make sure the migrating Whooper Swans are fat enough to make the long journey back to Iceland (the country, not the shop!). Thousands of ducks, geese and swans had a feeding frenzy right in front of the Discovery Hide where thankfully we were protected from a sudden shower of rain.
In summary, a good day out with like-minded friends!
